#hackthekitty is the events side of coding.kitty. We run hackathons, CTFs, coding challenges and workshops for the community, and for your teams.
Everything happens online, everything is free, and every skill level is welcome. If you can open a code editor, you can enter. The point is to build something, learn something, and meet people doing the same.
The results are in. Three teams built something genuinely useful for cats, and these are the ones that stood out.

Pet Talk is a full-stack IoT system that lets cat owners 'chat' with their cats via a smart collar equipped with ESP32-CAM. When an owner sends a message through the Flutter app, the backend commands the collar to capture a photo and uses Google Gemini AI to generate a reply as the cat, complete with personality and context.

Fitty is an AI-powered cat health tracker that estimates Body Condition Score (BCS) from two photos (top and side view). It classifies cats as underweight, healthy, or overweight, explains the visual reasoning, and provides simple care recommendations. Fitty also tracks results over time to help owners monitor weight changes and spot health issues early.

Meowderer encourages users to explore their neighborhoods and document stray cats in a fun, gamified way. It solves the lack of a simple, engaging tool for cat lovers to catalog local strays, while fostering community awareness and rescue efforts through shared sightings and alerts.
